Autosomal DNA Testing on Frank Hugh Robinson's Descendants

Nadene Goldfoot

Four of our Robinson family members have had the autosomal DNA test at FTDNA which is the familyfinder test in Houston, Texas. This is from Frank Hugh Robinson b: 1870 in Wenona, Illinois who moved to Hillsboro, Oregon.  Frank was the grandfather of Kenneth, David and Nadene.  He was Steve's great grandfather.   It showed that:

Kenneth Robinson matched his 1st cousins, David                   with 929.99cMs.
                                                                  Nadene                with 957.07cMs
with Nadene's son, a 1st cousin once removed  Steve          with 641.43cMs.

New England, where these Robinsons lived, last being Vermont.  The oral history is that the ancestor came over on a ship after the Mayflower.  That would have been about 1630 one possibly in that fleet from England

Autosomal DNA

One may be able to find a Stewart cousin via genealogical research or via anautosomal test (e.g., Family Finder) of one's own DNA. Identifying the common ancestor of distantly related cousins via shared autosomal DNA segments can be frustrating. Cousins may or may not inherit enough of the same DNA to show that they have a common ancestor.
  • A child randomly receives half of his autosomal DNA from his mother and half from his father.
  • First Cousins may inherit a quarter of their DNA from one of their common grandparents.
  • Second Cousins may inherit an eighth of their DNA from their common great-Gparents.
  • Third Cousins may inherit a sixteenth of their DNA from their common ggGparents.
  • Fourth Cousins may inherit a 32nd of their DNA from their common gggGparents.
  • Fifth Cousins may inherit a 64th of their DNA from their common ggggGparents.
  • Sixth Cousins may inherit 128th of their DNA from their common gggggGparents - segments of DNA become so small at this level and beyond that accurate comparisons may not be possible.

Connecting to King James II and his Queen, Anne Hyde of England

Nadene Goldfoot
Edited 3/12/17

1637-1671 Queen Anne Hyde

(1633-1701) King James II

Mildred Elizabeth Robinson b: 1913 and her brother, Edward Robinson b: 1915, connect to King James II of England of the House of Stuart  through his wife, Anne Hyde (1637-1671) London, England.  Their father was Frank Hugh Robinson (1870-1952).  Frank's father was Abiathar Smith Robinson and mother was Julia Ann Tuller whose mother was a Durkee.

Below in the tree one can see how both through the Robinson line and the Durkee line how they end up with Ann Hyde who married the king of
England.

Ann Hyde died at age 34.  She had been married secretly to  James II, not yet a king.  Ann was the daughter of the royalist, Sir Edward Hyde (1609-1674), who was created Earl of Clarendon in 1661.  They had 2 surviving daughters:  Mary who married William, Prince of Orange and Anne, who married Prince George of Denmark.  Their 4 sons, Charles, James, another Charles and Edgar, plus 2 more daughters, all died in infancy.

From Wikipedia:  "Anne Hyde (12 March 1637 – 31 March 1671)] was Duchess of York and of Albany as the first wife of the future King James II of England. Originally an Anglican, she converted to Catholicism soon after her marriage to James. This took place in 1660 after she became pregnant by him, but he is said to have promised to marry her the year before. The two first met in the Netherlands while Anne was living in the household of James' sister Mary. James and Anne had eight children, but six died in early childhood.  The two who survived to adulthood were Lady Mary, who succeeded her father after his deposition during the Glorious Revolution of 1688 and Lady Anne, who succeeded her brother-in-law and became the first monarch of Great Britain."

Anne Hyde's daughter, Queen Anne and husband King George of Denmark, painted by Charles Boit, 1706

Frank Hugh Robinson's  mother was Julia Ann Tuller (1834-1877).  Julia's mother was Asenith Durkee.(1814-1868), daughter of Heman Durkee, son of Col. Heman Durkee b: 1759;  son of Lt. Timothy Durkee b: 1737; son of Capt. Nathaniel Durkee b: 1701; son of Thomas Doctor Durkee b; 1666; son of William Durkee/Durgy of Ireland b: 1632-1634.
.
Frank's father was Abiathar Smith Robinson (1829-1904).  Perhaps Abiathar's father was Amos Robinson IV (1797-1880) born in Vermont d: Wisconsin. This is the crutch of the mystery.  I have no proof this is the father, but it's a  most likely probability.  Records are not forthcoming.  Frank Hugh Robinsons's Ydna haplogroup is R1b1a2a1a1b4 or now called R-L21.  Any matches please step up.

Amos Robinson IV's father was Amos Robinson III (1767-1836) b.d. Connecticut  Amos's father was Amos Robinson Jr. (1734-1812) b: Mass d: NH or Vermont married to Deborah HYDE b:1734 Connecticut d: 1780 Vermont.  This is the connection.  Mildred and Edward are the 3rd great granddaughter and grandson of Deborah Hyde.  Mildred always felt she was connected to royalty.  Little did she know.
Deborah Hyde turns out to be the 1/2 3rd cousin 4 times removed of Anne Hyde, Queen of England.
That makes Mildred and Edward Robinson 1/2 3rd cousins 9 times removed of the King and Queen of England!

Deborah Hyde's dad was Ebenezer Hyde (1708-August 21, 1742) of Connecticut.  His father was Samuel Henry Hyde (1665-Nov. 6, 1742) of Connecticut.

Samuel H. Hyde's direct line goes back to Matthew de Hyde (1167-1204) of Hyde, Cheshire, England.

Anne Hyde's father was Edward Hyde, Earl of Clarendon (1608-1674). His father was Henry Hyde (1563-1634) His father was Lawrence Hyde (1511-1590)  His line also goes back to Matthew de Hyde (1167-1204).
Both Mildred and Edward's line and the Queen Anne's line share Robert Hyde b: 1471 of Norbury, Chestershire (Cheshire), England which is in about NW central England.

Ann Hyde also connects to my female Durkee line, so that the connection is not only from my grandfather, Abiathar Smith Robinson and my shaky researching on his side of the Robinsons, but from his wife, my grandmother, Julia Ann Tuller, who connects to Durkee by her mother, Asenith Durkee, b: 1814-d: 1868 Royalton, Vermont.   I'm not surprised since there were fewer people living in those days and they were in the same areas back then.

12. ELIZABETH6 DURKEE (ELIZABETH5 FORD/LORD, ELIZABETH4 HYDE, SAMUEL3, WILLIAM2, ROBERT1) was born
