Rix Family Running Through Both Sides of Family of Robinson and Tuller

Nadene Goldfoot
Tyler Pearce Rix  b: January 2, 1993 England
musician, football player, international model
From the English line of Rix
The Rix family was found in a Robinson line, making me wonder if my ggrandfather, Abiathar Smith Robinson, b: 1829 in New York or Vermont,  belonged to that line.  We do not know who his father was.  He had named his first son with the name of Rix, though, as Edward Rix Robinson.  Usually in these days, people named in a prescribed order; first name for father's father; second child for mother's father, etc.  They named for family members.  Not always, though.  Sometimes it was for people they admired.  On both the IGI (Family search LDS) and Worldconnect Project (Ancestry.com) there is listed a Heman Durkee b: 1759 married to.... Susanna Rix, and they were married in Royalton, VT 19 Sept 1781.   Rix was evidently the surname of relatives in the family, and that is why they named him Rix for a first name.

Sen. Rix Robinson
There was a Senator Rix Robinson b: 1789 who was a Michigan Senator from 1847 to 1849. (See reference below article.) We had heard a story that one of Abiathar's brothers had married an Indian princess.  (Or had they just heard about this fact and passed it on?)
Descendants of Rix Robinson, Senator

I have traced Eunice Rix's parentage back to:  Descendants of Robert Rix   A Robinson line-presuming it's of Abiathar's family.

Charles Durkee, Governor of Utah Territory
was born in 1805 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont,
and was the nephew of
Col Heman Durkee
I have 24 Charles Durkees in my name bank.
He is the 1st cousin twice removed of Julia Ann Tuller.

At age 22 Abiathar had married Julia Ann Tuller, b: 1834 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont when she was 17.  They married in Tunbridge, Orange, Vermont next door to Royalton.

Julia's mother was a Durkee, the name today of Durkee's mayonaise, spices, and such. "Durkee is an American brand name under conglomerate ownership. It formerly was an independent food company, Durkee Famous Foods, founded by Eugene RDurkee, who was born in 1828,  in 1851.  This is one Durkee I do not have listed in my name bank.

Col Heman Durkee, Julia Ann's great grandfather b: 1759,  had married Susanna Rix, both of Connecticut.

1   Robert Rix b: 1592 in Kenninghall, Norfolk, England
.. +Margaret b: Abt. 1592 in Stockport, Cheshire, England

THIS IS AMAZING!  BOTH RIX FAMILIES WERE THE SAME!!! One in Abiathar Robinson's family and one in Julia Ann Tuller's family.  This has to be why Abiathar and Julia named their first son "Edward Rix Robinson."

Descendants of Susanna Rix
1   [1] Susanna Rix b: June 30, 1764 in Preston, New London County,  Connecticut

A Robinson Heiress Who Couldn't Spend Her Money: Hetty

Hetty:  Henrietta Howland Robinson
b: 1834-d: 1916

Hetty was born the same year my ggrandmother was born.  That was 183 years ago!
She was to become the USA's richest woman known for her financial skills in making money with the money she had inherited.  The "richest woman in America" amassed a fortune when other major financiers were men.
But she had a huge fault.  She couldn't bring herself to spend it.  She was like King Midas. Her own son's leg became infected and she wouldn't spend the money to get medical help, and he lost his leg.  She was sick in the head.  Her worth was $100 million to $200 million--like$ 2 billion to $4.4 billion in 2017.   Ivanka, don't be like her and be stingy to yourself and to others.
Hetty needed to see a psychologist but she would have never spent the money.  Why one day, she spent the whole time looking for her $0.02 stamp that she had dropped-not bringing herself to waste a penny.

She was born in Massachusetts into the richest whaling family in New Bedford,
then would marry a banker from Bellows Falls, Windham, Vermont.  My ggrandmother
was born in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont.

I discovered Hetty on my search for the preceding article for Robinsons in Vermont.
This lady had such a problem.  She was the worst miser who has ever lived.  And yet she had more
money than anyone could ever dream of, and would not spend a penny of it.

First, her mother died and left her $8,000.
Her aunt left her $20,000.
Her father died and left her $5 million including a $4 million trust fund that drew annual earnings.
She invested in Civil War war bonds.
Her other Aunt Sylvia died and left to charity her $2 million estate, not to Hetty.
Hetty came up with another will leaving it to herself: Robinson vs Mandell.
5 years later Hetty was awarded $600,000.

This lady was called the Witch of Wall Street.
Read the Wikipedia article about her.

Vermont: Abounding with Nearby Robinsons to Abiathar Smith Robinson

Nadene Goldfoot
A younger Abiathar Smith Robinson, going bald on top but with darker hair.
born 1829 in Vermont-father is not known for sure but DNA testing shows
the line is R-L21.  Oral history was that they came from Wales but DNA shows matches
with the Irish.  DYS393=12; DYS390=21; not common.  We were told the ancestors
came over on the ship after the Mayflower-presumably from England.
Abiathar is the old man on the right with my grandfather, Frank Hugh Robinson.
In this picture they are in Wenona, Marshall, Illinois where Frank was born.
Abiathar was born in Vermont, possibly even New York.  Everyone was a farmer in
those days, and so they moved around trying to find the perfect spot to make a living.  Abiathar was
very religious, not allowing any work on a sabbath.  We know this from the fight these two had later when Frank was about 16 which caused him to leave home and never to return.  Frank  was the 8th of Abiathar's 10 children:  6 boys-Edward, Edgar, John C, William S, Frank Hugh and Arthur Roy, and 4 girls:  Nellie, Emma, Julia and Minnie.

In trying to find who could be Abiathar's father, as he appeared marrying Julia Ann Tuller of Royalton, Vermont in February 1852 from Tunbridge, where they married.  Tunbridge is in Orange County and Royalton is in Windsor  County, and they kept excellent records in Orange, or at least retrievable ones that I've found on familysearch and ancestry.com and findagrave.  One family could have 10 children and soon the area was loaded with Robinsons who moved out as farmers into nearby communities seeking land for farming.  I thought Hiram was as good as any other prospect.  Incidentally, New England was also full of Hiram Robinsons.  In my own name bank, I've counted 16.

Frank Hugh Robinon's son, Edward Kenneth Robinson, born 1915,
he bears his grandfather Abiathar's shape of head and receding hairline on top.
Descendants of HIRAM Robinson--without paper proof, he's just conviently close by.

1   [5] HIRAM Name of Phoenecian king of Tyre:  The Hebrew Bible says that he allied himself with King David of the United Kingdom of Israel (2 Samuel 5:111 Kings 5:11 Chronicles 14:1). Robinson b: December 06, 1806 in prob. Strafford, Orange, Vermont d: February 06, 1892 in Strafford, Orange, Vermont
. +Zeruiah Zeruah A. Tyler b: January 19, 1808 in Strafford, Orange, Vermont d: September 03, 1847 in prob Strafford, Orange, Vermont Zeruiah /zəˈrjə/ (‎צרויה, sometimes transliterated Tzruya or Zeruya) is a figure in the Hebrew Bible. She was a sister of King David. According to 1 Chronicles 2:13-16 and also the Babylonian Talmud (Shabbat 55), Zeruiah was a daughter of Jesse (sister to Abigail another of Jesse's daughters according to 2 Samuel 17:25). Zeruiah had three sons, AbishaiJoab, and Asahel, all of whom were soldiers in David's army (and also David's nephews).Love her biblical name.  They were into studying the Old Testament and especially admired King David, I see.  It's interesting to me that Christians had picked names from the Bible that we Jewish people do not necessarily use.  We use the names of  Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Joseph,  and some of their descendants .along with names such as David, Samuel, Joel, Joshua, etc.

The only problem I see here is that Hiram wouldn't have married Zeruiah until 2 years after Abiathar was born in 1829.  They married in 1831, if records I found were correct.  I guess this happened in the past as well as with today's people.  She was certainly old enough.  Abiathar was very religious.  Would he have done this?  Zeruiah died young in 1847, and Hiram remarried Abigail George.  I'm not sure who Abiathar's siblings' mother would have been.  He would certainly have been Zeruiah's son.  His name of Abiathar, another biblical name connected to King David, certainly fits. He was the tenth high priest, and the fourth in descent from Eli. When his father was slain with the priests of Nob, he escaped, and bearing with him the ephod, he joined David, who was then in the cave of Adullam ( 1 Samuel 22:20-23 ; 23:6 ). He remained with David, and became priest of the party of which he was the leader ( 1 Samuel 30:7 ). When David ascended the throne of Judah, Abiathar was appointed high priest ( 1 Chronicles 15:11 ; 1 Kings 2:26 ) and the "king's companion" ( 1 Chronicles 27:34 )

Tunbridge, Orange, Vermont and a covered bridge they are noted for.

........
This is Hetty Green Robinson also born in  1834 like our Julia Ann, but in Massachusetts.
known as Henrietta Howland Robinson, closest I could get to a picture of this era.
This lady died at 81 of a stroke in 1916.
(née Robinson; November 21, 1834 – July 3, 1916), nicknamed the "Witch of Wall Street", was an American businesswoman and financier known as "the richest woman in America" during the Gilded Age. Known for both her wealth and her miserliness, she was the lone woman to amass a fortune when other major financiers were men. Give her cudos for doing something women just didn't do then.  She was a first!

+Julia Ann Tuller b: December 18, 1834 in Royalton, Windsor, Vermont d: December 02, 1887 in Wenona, Marshall, Illinois  Julia married Abaithar at age 17, lived in a gorgeous green state with covered bridges and during the Civil War had moved to Canada, then returned to Wenona, Illinois when it was over.  Why they left is not known, only a fact discovered by the descendants. She was probably a lot happier than Henriettq Robinson ever was, even with all her money.

Kenneth Robinson, built their little house next door to himself.  Ed's children had the advantage of living between both sets of grandparents in rural Hillsboro, Oregon.  They weren't spoiled, surprisingly.

One place that's very important to genealogists in searching for ancestors is the cemetery. findagrave.com is a
good source for finding information, though we are dependant on the accuracy of donors. The pictures
do help, but again those making the headstones are dependant on someone's information that is given to them.
