Tree Leading to Meppershall, Bedfordshire, England by Accident

 Nadene Goldfoot

                New Hampshire

I ran across Daniel Coleman as one of my DNA matches  of a 3rd to 5th cousin, and that's a story in itself.  In Daniel's list of surnames on his tree with FTDNA, there was a Landsburg that attracted my eye because I was just finishing reading a book by Alan Landsburg, and thought maybe I could be related to him.  It was just a wild hunch.

This led me to William H. Robinson on my tree.  This Robinson led me to Paschal Robinson, corporal in the Civil War era who wound up in Portland, Cumberland, Maine. He was from the line of Benjamin Franklin Robinson b: 1822 in Brentwood, Rockingham, New Hampshire, where I had found a lot of possible Robinsons.  Paschal didn't marry or leave descendants, which would make my search easier, but his relatives did.  This line leads back to John W. Robinson born in 1580 in Meppershall, Bedfordshire, England.

This gives me quite a jolt as my ggrandfather was established in Vermont.  It's also full of Robinsons that are possible relatives.  In fact, I'm beginning to think that we're sharing DNA with every Robinson in New England.

My brother's Y haplogroup connects with another Robinson totally in Maine, while mine have been in NH, Vermont and other sites in New England.  He is James Alton Robinson and his line is from Maine, but originally,  England. His tree leads to Meppershall, Bedfordshire, England and it helped me.

I've just recently received word that we are connected to the Fitzpatrick line in Ireland. Our grandfather, who had left home at 16, I think, thought his family was from Wales.  James and my cousin have a distance of 5, not sharing exactly the same Y haplogroup but it is another R.... James also had a large number of ancestors in Rockingham, New Hampshire.  This connection comes from the test of the Y haplogroup (male line).

I already found Descendants of Joseph Sanborn Robinson

1   [1] Joseph Sanborn Robinson b: May 28, 1812 in Brentwood, Rockingham, New Hampshire d: August 29, 1887 in Brentwood, Rockingham, New Hampshire
.. +Martha T. b: 1816 d: 1846
. 2   Loren S. Robinson b: 1840 d: February 22, 1842
*2nd Wife of [1] Joseph Sanborn Robinson:
.. +Angelina Towle b: June 04, 1816 d: July 17, 1784
. 2   Alfred I. Robinson b: 1849 d: 1849

That was the first Towle.  Now the 2nd connection: Durkee is the surname of Julia Tuller's mother.  I have found a Towle DNA connection. It connects to our female side.
